When we had a vegetable garden in Texas we had everything picked and out of the garden by now. July in Texas is just too hot to try to grow anything. Here in the San Luis Valley, they are just starting to pick vegetables.
I've been looking forward to the farmer's market opening and yesterday was the opening day. It will be every Saturday morning until mid-October.
It's located in the historic downtown shopping district. There is also an area for craft booths.
All that shopping made us hungry so we tried out the breakfast tacos from a local restaurant.
Our haul today was pumpkin bread, cherries, squash, corn, sugar snap peas, and cookies!
I love going to farmers markets. Haven't run into any yet this summer.
ReplyDeleteOur farmers markets here (in NJ) start and end about the same time the ones in San Luis do, but it's been too friggin' hot to go out, lately. It was 100 on Saturday, if you can believe that. I have just stayed in as much as possible during our two, so far, heat waves. Ugh. It's going to drop into the 80's this week, and that will feel cool compared to the heat we had last week. I might get to a farmer's market near where I work on Friday, if it stays in the "cool" 80's!
