Long Ledges Preserve

We’re always looking for new places to hike and explore and Mark found a great trail that we haven’t been on before.  The yellow line shows our path.

Long Ledges Preserve is 318 acres of upland forest land.

There are beautiful lichens and moss all along the trail.

Long Ledges Preserve is owned by Frenchman Bay Conservancy.  Frenchman Bay owns a total of 8,000 acres of land with about 28 miles of hiking trails.

There are lots of granite outcroppings.

Along with glacial erratic boulders.

After about 1 1/2 miles we came to Long Pond.

After Long Pond we started heading back to the trail head.

Vernal Pool

We had about a mile to walk back to the car so we picked a little snack.

Blueberries fresh off the plant.

This turned into a very nice, cool walk.

  1. It looks very lovely, and blueberries too! A walk in the cool woods sounds wonderful, even if there are a few mosquitoes.

    1. The mosquitoes haven't really let up this summer, but our repellent(s) are doing a pretty good job of keeping them at bay.

  2. We went walking today too, but no blueberries for us. Looked like a really nice hike.

    1. Glad to hear that you're getting out. I'd imagine that our scenery is a lot different than yours!
