You might remember last year one of our last jobs at the
hatchery was to paint row “B” of the inside tanks (See September 29, 2018,
blog: One Last Job).
This year the staff wanted to paint rows “A” and “C”. Fred (biologist) spent many days scrapping the
inside of all 28 tanks. Next, everybody
pitched in to sand and wipe down all the tanks.
Then we started painting.
This paint is a very odd green color.
It’s a two-part epoxy paint. After
mixing the two parts together the paint sits for about 45 minutes before it can
be used. We had every door open and 3
fans blowing. The smell is very strong.
My job was to get inside the tank and paint the drain and
around the curved edge that the roller couldn’t get.
This is a picture of me last year putting the second coat
on.
Mark’s job was to paint the bottom, sides, and top edge.
We painted (2 coats) all of row “C” while Aubrey (biologist)
and Jarrett (intern) painted row “A”.
It is an odd color green but it looks good.
Our time here is winding down. We’re finishing up some small jobs and still
staying plenty busy.
Anxious to hear about your next adventure in volunteering!

ReplyDeleteI like it too. It really brightens up the tank room.
