It’s a good thing we have a lot of parking space because things are hopping at the new house!
Sometimes you just have to put your foot down to get your point across. After getting some work done on Saturday, the painters slacked off again, leading to another very stern discussion on Monday.
So, after a couple of VERY long nights (the painters, not us),
the inside painting is finally coming along.
The first coat is almost complete, some of the trim has been painted,
and the second coat should be started today.
We have been promised that they will be painting late every night and will finish this week.
The fencing was finished Wednesday. There is not a deer in Texas that can jump that high!
The fence guy has been very efficient and does wonderful work. The corner bracings were welded on site and (tediously) painted.
It might look like we have a pet giraffe but this high fence is needed to keep the deer out. We have a very long list of landscape plants to be purchased. This area is going to be planted for birds.
The rock guy has started and should be finished next week. He specializes in meticulously dry-stacked rock. Everything is carefully fitted and no mortar is used. It is quite a process!
This water feature will have cascading water pooling on these large rocks that will provide plenty of space for birds to bathe and drink. It will look awesome when finished.
There are still a few things we need to do before moving in but it is good to see progress!
Love to see the picture of Teri and the fence! That is one tall fence! I'm excited for you and loving seeing the progress.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a trick photo but it's not. I'm backed right up to the fence.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new home. What a surprise. Sounds like you are making it your own. We are still in Marinoff, alone. No volunteers until at least January. Students are coming next month but will be in the bunkhouse. We are well and keeping busy.
ReplyDeleteYou made it through the summer! Glad you were able to keep busy.
DeleteLooks great. Sometimes you just have to get stern with them. I had to fire our Solar system installer Monday. I asked them to add some new hardware, and after 6 weeks and 20 excuses, I ordered the parts and wire them in myself in about 2 hours. So I called another company and they will take over maintenance from here on out. Very disappointing to have to go that route. It would be like having a new painter take over in the middle of painting done by someone else. But you eventually have to make the tough decision to move on and just forget about the sunk cost of trying to make it work.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and keep the progress reports coming please!
Yep. We're still having problems with them. Every day it's "we'll be finished tomorrow, or the next day."
DeleteAnd the thing is, we could have done it ourselves but we thought we would let someone else do the work for a change.
