Geocache - Well, this is a new one!

While we were headed into town today to do a little shopping we decided to stop at a couple of geocache sites along the way.  We don’t seem to be very good at finding the cache’s, probably because we never have the ‘hint’ with us.
The first site took us here:
Any idea where it might be?
Dead-eye Mark figured it out.

Who would have guessed it would be IN the telephone pole? That’s a new one for us.

The next site was down the road a ways. We looked for a while and didn’t find it so Mark got on his smart phone to get the hint. The hint said that it was very tiny and you would need a pair of pliers to get it.  We didn’t have any pliers and didn’t see any cache so we decided to leave that one for another time.  We headed on to the third site.  We couldn’t find the cache so Mark again looked up the hint.  It stated we would need a wrench, which we didn’t have (we've never needed any tools before!).  We looked around for quite a while and didn’t find anything.  So, one out of three cache’s. That’s pretty typical for us.  Still, it’s a fun hobby.

  1. Those are my kind of caches! I love the ones where you have to work a little and "think like a cacher". Doesn't mean I get them all, but I sure have fun trying! Be sure to post pics of those 2 others... tweezers? wrench? The only ones I won't try are in electric boxes... I let Bill check those out ;-)

  2. We are doing a lot of plant transects, which are kind of like geocaching, looking for the monuments which are buried under prairie dog diggings or sage brush. This has given us the same thrill as searching for a geocach.

  3. I can imagine that trying to find survey monuments out there in the brush could present a real challenge!! We saw quite a few prairie dogs when we were there in 2010. Glad to hear that they are still out there in force.
