2018 Panama Journal - Day 2 - Part 3

2/11/18 Continued

Our next stop was for lunch at Hotel Portal Avicar.
Outside seating on the left along with
several Hummingbird feeders.

They had several hummingbird feeders set up.  The sugar water in the feeders was a dark brown color and we were told it was made with brown sugar.  We’ve never heard of brown sugar used in hummingbird feeders but the hummingbirds didn’t seem to mind.  While waiting for our lunch of baked chicken, brown lentils, white rice and cooked plantains, we watched the hummingbird feeders and saw Black-throated Mango, Scaly-breasted Hummingbird,  Rufous-tailed hummingbird, Snowy-bellied Hummingbird, Violet-bellied Hummingbird and Sapphire-throated Hummingbird.
