This sure isn’t Texas!

Can you guess where we are?

A place where there is snow on the mountains:

Rivers so clear you can see the trout swimming on the bottom:

Cool, crisp, pine scented, fresh air.

A place where you can still make snowballs on April 21st.

Beautiful Birds:

Stellar's Jay

Mountain Bluebird

Western Bluebird

Say's Phoebe

 Have you figured it out?

We’re in beautiful Colorado.

  1. I remember going through Raton Pass. No snow when I was there. :)

  3. Hi Judy-

That is a steep ride both up and down from Raton Pass!! We went from 7834 feet at the pass down to about 6000 feet where we are now camped. We will have to climb back up to 7500 feet tomorrow to arrive at our summer "home" at Alamosa NWR. Up and down...

  4. Hi Carolyn-

We are enjoying the cool mornings here. We saw 38 degrees yesterday morning. Very dry and crisp!

We look forward to seeing you and Wally once you get into Colorado. Too bad we'll be 268 miles apart (according to Google!). Maybe we'll have some official refuge business between our two refuges!

  5. I'll have to check out your new NWR... it's one we haven't been to yet. Really enjoy your posts and follow it.. wondered why you didn't post often.. figured out today I needed to update my profile stuff (duh)... so I just read your happenings of the last month. NOW I'll be following you on a regular basis. Will you be close to Carolyn and Wally? Aren't they in Colorado this summer?

  7. Hi Sharon-

On the first blog I ever looked at I bookmarked a particular entry and thought that the blogger never updated his blog. But after a few weeks I realized what I had done and got caught up!!

I have so enjoyed looking at your blog. It has gotten us thinking about doing something similar so we'll want to pick your brain someday.

We've never set foot on this refuge either, so it will be new to us. We'll get there tomorrow and find out what we've gotten ourselves into!
