Kayaking the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta

We’re staying in a very nice, clean, quiet county park called Live Oak Landing.  There are some fun things to do here, including disc golf and kayaking.

Mark played the disc golf course in the park and another course about 20 miles down the road outside of Mobile.

The Admiral Disc Golf Course

We took advantage of the kayak rentals.  They are supposed to be $25 each for 2 hours but when we paid, the man in charge, said he would be gone all day and we could take them out for as long as we wanted.

We picked a beautiful day!

We each had our own kayak.

We paddled down the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta to some channels that were full of cypress trees.

We went about 4 miles with calm waters and lots of birding opportunities.

We came across this pair of Yellow-crowned Night Herons and watched quietly while they tended their nest.

The wind started picking up as we headed back.  We came across a couple of small alligators.  They were sunning themselves and weren’t interested in us.

Hasta Luego!
