The International Disc Golf Center (IDGC)

We're in Georgia!

We’re staying at the Wildwood county park outside of Augusta, Georgia.  We stayed at this same park in 2015 when traveling from Key Deer, Florida to Farragut State Park, Idaho (see April 5, 2015 blog post).

This park has many things going for it.  For one, it’s beautiful!

After the few weekend campers left we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

Another thing this park has going for it is that the (IDGC) International Disc Golf Center headquarters is also located in the park.  The IDGC is the association that oversees the rules, scoring, tournament ratings, etc. for Disc Golf.

There are also three different 18-hole courses.

Not only are these three courses right in our back yard, there are many (MANY) disc golf courses in this area.  (NOTE:  We were only here 4 1/2 days).

First 18-hole Course.  Mark filling out his score card.

The first course Mark played was the “easiest” course of the three at IDGC.  Unfortunately, the various lakes and streams kept getting in the way of his disc shots!

1st water shot.

2nd water shot.

We drove across the border into South Carolina to play the second course.

Second 18-hole Course.  South Carolina.

Third 18-hole Course.  Back at the IDGC.

And he found a 27 hole course!  18 holes plus an additional 9 holes (Woods Course).

Fourth 27-hole Course.  Lake Russell.

Fourth Course - Additional 9 holes.

Fifth 18-hole Course - IDGC

I took advantage of the IDGC pro shop to purchase a couple of birthday presents for Mark.

He's an easy guy to buy gifts for!  Happy early birthday.

  1. Judging by the different shirts Mark wore (I counted 4) in the pictures, it took a few days to play all that disc golf. Keep safe!

    1. I will often wear the same shirt a couple of days in a row when the climate is mild. But it was hot and sticky while we were there!
